Matt's "celebrity" moment ;)

Last weekend Matt and I got to go to a University of Maryland football game! Matt was offered two tickets to the game and admission to a pregame party and of course we couldn't pass that up! We had so much fun, even though it was SO cold and Florida State really stomped Maryland into the ground Haha!

After the 1st quarter, Matt and 3 other military people from Fort Meade got to go down on the field and were recognized for their service. He headed down before the quarter was over, so while they waited he was talking to some giant man and taking pictures with him. Of course, I had no idea who it was and figured it was just a fan, but it turns out it was Shawne Merriman! I still have no idea who he is, but Matt tells me he is an NFL player and UMD Alumni! So of course Matt was super stoked about that. As you can see in the photo, Matt barely comes up to the guy's shoulder haha

Then they got to stand in the end zone and they showed them up on the big screen and said something about how nerdy they are "protecting the cyber world". Haha I kid.. I was SO proud. People in the stands even stood up and clapped for them. :) It made me realize that Matt isn't just my boyfriend, but someone who does a lot for our country and I should thank him more often (and maybe not make jokes about him being a nerd ;) haha)

Here they are on the jumbotron! :) They had to do some awkward waving too but I didn't get a good picture of that... There was a professional photographer on the field who promised to email the photos to Matt so as soon as he gets them, I'll add them to my post!

UPDATE: The photos are in! Here they are:

Watering Plants While You're Away!

I've recently taken up indoor gardening! I just have a few plants in the window and a large fern in my living room, but it's been so fun taking care of them. (I never thought I would actually enjoy watering plants haha) This week, Matt and I are going out of town for Thanksgiving and I was so worried about leaving my plants at home because I didn't want them to dry out and die! So I did some research and found a great idea from "The Crafty Little Gnome"... Watering with glass bottles! Here's the link to her blog: click!

Because my fern is really big, I thought it would be a good idea to use a bigger bottle, so luckily I had an empty wine bottle to use...

All you have to do is fill it up with water, and flip it upside down really fast so all the water doesn't spill out! I dug out a little hole to put the bottle in to make it easier to get it to stand up. It starts watering the plant on it's own and WA-LA! your plants are good to go for a few days! I tested it out this week and it took 4 days for the wine bottle to empty so if you'll be gone for longer, you may want to use a larger bottle or maybe even two.

For the smaller plants I used regular glass bottles because they won't use up as much water. I didn't test these out like I did with the big plant so hopefully they won't run out of water too fast, but I think they will last until we get back. How funny does it look though? I think it looks like I'm growing beer instead of plants! Haha!

Hopes this helps all of you that are going out of town! It definitely is a lifesaver for me!

Cinnamon Toast Milkshake

I've really been in the mood for milkshakes lately, so I decided to try to figure out how to make them myself in the blender. So far, I've made a chocolate and a vanilla one, but tonight I decided to try out something different and it turned out amazing! It tastes just like cinnamon toast! :)

Cinnamon Toast Milkshake
Serves 2

Ingredients:
1 tray of Ice Cubes
2 cups Milk
1/2 cup Sugar
1 tbsp Vanilla Extract
1 tbsp Ground Cinnamon
1/4 cup Snickerdoodle Coffee Creamer (I got this at Safeway. Cinnamon-Vanilla works too)

It's as easy as 1, 2, 3...

1. Gather ingredients
2. Blend it all together
3. Enjoy! :)

Cool Ranch Taco Salad

I've been making this recipe for years. It's one of those things that seems so simple, but you may have never thought to put the ingredients together... and it tastes SO good. Everyone I've ever made it for, loves it. So I'll just get right into it.

Cool Ranch Taco Salad
Serves 4-6

Ingredients:
1 lb. Ground Beef
1 packet of Taco Seasoning (I prefer the hottest kind, but you can go mild if you like)
1 large can Red Kidney Beans
1 bag Cool Ranch Doritos (You can try different flavors, but this is what I prefer)
1 bag Shredded Lettuce
1 8 oz. bag Mexican Blend Cheese
Ranch Dressing

1. Brown beef and drain excess grease
2. Add taco seasoning to beef and follow directions on the packet
3. Meanwhile, heat kidney beans in a small pot and add to ground beef/taco seasoning mixture to give the beans a spicy flavor and mix them together

4. I like to make each bowl separately, so each person can add as much or as little of each ingredient to their salad. So, add Doritos to the bottom of each bowl.

5. Top with beef/beans mixture
6. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top

7. Top with shredded lettuce
8. Finish off with ranch dressing on top

You can also add any other taco toppings you would like such as tomatoes, salsa, guacamole, sour cream, etc. I add the ingredients in this order so that the lettuce won't get soggy and warm while you are preparing it. If you put the meat on top of the lettuce it doesn't turn out as good. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do, and if you have any ideas or comments, please let me know :)

Thanksgiving Printables

I've gotten into making "printables" this week :) I started out by making a card for Matt and the obsession began... Since then, I've made a few printables for Thanksgiving! Here are the photos. You can save them and print them out in any size you would like. (Please link back to me if you decide to reblog them!) I really enjoyed making these and I hope you like them too! Leave comments and feedback! I'd love some advice/criticism for future printables. :)

Halloween 2012!

I love fall! I think it's my very favorite time of the year. The pumpkin coffee and candles, the fall colors, the leaves changing, the warm and cozy clothes and scarves, what's not to love!? A few weeks ago, Matt and I went to a pumpkin farm and went through a corn maze, had apple cider, went on a hay ride and picked pumpkins :) We did this last year too and had so much fun so we just had to go again this year. I'll jump right in to photos...

In the Corn Maze

On the Hay Ride.. It was so BuMpY!

We were having a lazy day, don't judge! ;)

My Witch

Matt's Scary Face... It reminds me of the Headless Horseman!
And here are some of my decorations for Halloween... I had everything set up on the table in September, but I decided I would start decorating my shelves above the television for every holiday. So, here's Halloween's!

Happy Halloween! Up next is Thanksgiving :)
